Marc Perez, Candidate for the Wildwood City Council Ward 3 *****Election Day is April 5th, 2011.***** Wildwood is a fiscally sound city with very good bond and credit ratings. It needs to stay that way. Sound fiscal policy and responsible use of funds is a must in today's uncertain economic times.
The City Council meetings, the 2nd and 4th Monday evenings, are very productive. Marc especially admires the open discussion between Council members. Open public comment is vital for the City Council to understand the opinions of the citizens of Wildwood. That is why it is called "Representation". The City Council (Ward) member is the voice of the people in the Ward. Ward three has a diverse political and socio-economic group of citizens within its boundaries. Marc understands how diversity improves a community.
Two very visable and important aspects of the City Council are: #1 Planning & Zoning Commission final votes #2 The creation or modification of City ordinances These decisions affect our lives.
There is much discussion currently underway about the "GREAT STREETS INITIATIVE". This is concerning the present and future traffic patterns as well as developement along Manchester Rd. and agreements between Wildwood, Ellisville, Ballwin, Winchester and the the City of Manchester. In addressing the City Council on October 25th 2010 I spoke in favor of the "MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING". There was only one "NO" vote by the Council members. We should engage in a dialog regarding Manchester Road. I also stated that "WE" the citizens of Wildwood should not be expected to fund "unreasonable" expenses of other communities who lacked the planning for Manchester Rd. right of ways and traffic flow patterens. There is no financial commitment by the City and involvement can be terminated by the City Council of Wildwood.
Marc is a former Planning & Zoning Commissioner, out spoken and supportive of good ideas and change as well as very outspoken when change is not in the best interest of the area involved.
Wildwood is a community, not just a Ward.
Marc has spoken before the Wildwood City Council, supporting good ideas and speaking out against ordinance proposals that are not in the best interest of the citizens of Wildwood, whether in Ward 3 or throughout the City.
Marc has met with many of the Wildwood "Founders" and has a deep appreciation for what they intended Wildwood to be, then and now. We must not lose the focus of why this community was formed and what it is to be in the future.
Our lives must not be over-regulated or our behavior inhibited by useless and intrusive government regulation, be it Local, County, State or even the Federal Government.
Marc has expressed his views, support or objections at all three of these levels of Government and will continue to do so.
It will be my honor to serve as your City Council represntative in the City of Wildwood.
I believe there will be some one else seeking this seat for City Council in Ward 3 I will place no negative comments for anyone who wishes to do so.
In my profession I evaluate information and make life or death decisions. In City Council I will evaluate information and make decisions that affect all of our lives.
It has been shown that very few people vote in local elections. YOUR VOTE COUNTS AND IT CERTAINLY DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
